News: from December 1, 2026, Copilot can be bought without a Microsoft 365 plan
Microsoft announced in Partner Center on October 14, 2026 that, beginning December 1, 2026, new Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot Business offers can be purchased without a qualifying Microsoft 365 base subscription. Microsoft says the new offers are priced the same as the current ones, and that the change affects how Copilot is purchased, not what Copilot can do.
- From October 16, 2026, the current offers that need a Microsoft 365 base subscription are named "(add-on)", for example "Microsoft 365 Copilot (add-on)". They reach end of sale in CSP on December 1, 2026; existing customers can still renew and change seat counts.
- Existing Copilot subscriptions don't need any action. Microsoft says pricing, renewal terms and service stay the same.
- Copilot still works with the Microsoft 365 apps and services you are licensed for, so we check which apps your people use before you buy.
- Microsoft also says new Microsoft 365 Copilot Business licences bought through CSP from December 1, 2026 will have usage-based billing turned on by default, with a spending limit that admins can change. We set that limit with you.

- We do the work. Permissions check, clean-up plan, caps and training sheet. Updates stay in email.
